Looking back at IBTM World 2024: Leiden in the Spotlight
In November 2024, Miranda and Yara from team Leiden Convention Bureau attended IBTM World 2024. IBTM stands for Incentives, Business Travel & Meetings and is one of the world's leading trade fairs for the MICE-industry. The event is held, annually in Barcalona and brings together professionals from the events-, conference- and business travel sectors to network, explore new trends and create collaborations.
The NL-Netherlands Stand
Leiden Convention Bureau is proud to have participated in IBTM World together with colleagues at the NL-Netherlands Stand, organized by Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions (NBTC). During the fair, we had several meetings with international associations, travel agencies, event planners and destination agencies. This gave us the perfect opportunity to position Leiden as the destination for impactful events.
Key to Discoveries
Miranda and Yara highlighted how Leiden offers a unique blend of knowledge and culture, history and innovation. The city combines a compact, well-connected infrastructure with a rich scientific and cultural heritage. With venues within walking distance, international train connections and a strong focus on sustainability, Leiden offers an inspiring and compact environment for conferences and business meetings. These characterstics make Leiden not only distinctive, but also an attractive choice for international planners.
Break The Ice
Besides the scheduled appointments, IBTM provided an opportunity to network at both national and international levels. During the inspiring networking event Break The Ice, valuable new connections were made and relationships outside the exhibition floor were strenghtened. In the coming weeks, the team looks forward to following up on these meetings and deepening collaborations with national and international partners.
Leiden Booking Service: A Taste of Leiden
A highlight of IBTM was the official launch of Leiden Booking Service, a new service to make booking hotel rooms for conferences in Leiden even easier. To give visitors a real 'Taste of Leiden', Miranda and Yara suprised their appointments with real Leidse biscuits from Leidsche Koek - a unique and tasty reminder of our city.
