Leiden Semi-Finalist for European Rising Innovative City Award
The semi-finalists for this year's European Capital of Innovation Awards have been announced, and we are proud to announce that Leiden has been nominated in the 'European Rising Innovative City' category! Leiden is one of the six selected cities, along with Bruges, Cork, Linköping, Linz, and Padova.
Leiden is participating in this competition in the category of ‘European Rising Innovative City’. Since 2014, these Awards have been presented to acknowledge and reward European cities for their efforts in innovation. This includes aspects such as engaging in experiments, actively promoting innovation, and pushing technological boundaries. The European Rising Innovative City category that targets towns and cities with a population of 50 000 and up to 249 999 inhabitants and rewards the winner with EUR 500 000 and two runners-up with EUR 50 000 each. The criteria on which cities are assessed include ‘Experimenting’, ‘Escalating’, 'Ecosystem building', ‘Expanding’ and ‘City innovative vision’.
