The Field: Smart Building and Plastic Soup Surfer exhibition

| The Field

The Field, circular living lab and event location in the heart of Leiden, is not standing still. New developments on the site include a Smart Building, where we work on tomorrow's world as well as providing an inspiring meeting space. There will also be an exhibition featuring images by 'plastic soup surfer' Merijn Tinga until 22 June.

De Smart Building

The Smart Building, part of the Dutch WindWheel, is a completely self-sufficient building that will mainly be used as a physical experimentation and education location and will be developed with the latest technology. Students, together with companies, will work in the building with technologies such as wind, solar and thermal energy to make this house even more intelligent, sustainable and green. It is also a perfect meeting room of 39 m2. In the standard setup, 18 people can sit at 3 tables, or 14 people at 1 table. The building has its own toilet, coffee machine, kettle, fridge, air conditioning and a terrace at the front.

In addition, you can now dive into the fascinating story of Plastic Soup Surfer Merijn Tinga, who made a legendary journey from Oslo to London on a homemade surfboard made of recycled material. Sustainability photographer Marjolein Vinkenoog captured this unique expedition, highlighting the power of individual action and creativity. The exhibition can be seen at The Field until 22 June.
