To ensure knowledge flourishes and the city gains the maximum benefit from iall knowledge institutions, the Leiden Kennisstad partnership was launched five years ago. A new partnership agreement was signed on November 11th.
Leiden Kennisstad comprises Leiden University, Leiden University of Applied Sciences, LUMC, Naturalis Biodiversity Center and the Municipality of Leiden, and since 11 November MBO Rijnland. In the coming years the partnership will increase its focus on the themes of health and well-being, sustainability and biodiversity, and cultural heritage and collections. The knowledge institutions can jointly address social issues in the city, for instance.
Leiden Kennisstad was founded in 2017. The aim is on the one hand to allow the knowledge institutions in Leiden to flourish more and on the other hand to strengthen the connection between the knowledge of those institutions and the inhabitants of the city. This resulted, among other things, in the honorary title of European City of Science that Leiden was awarded this year.
